TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – A suspected drug pusher in Cabanatuan City’s police drug watchlist was killed in an alleged encounter with police operatives in Barangay San Miguel Na Munti here around 2 a.m. Monday.
Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno, acting police chief, identified the suspect as Jonas Romero alias Joshua, resident of Barangay MS Garcia, Cabanatuan City.
Bruno said Romero fired a .38 revolver at the anti-drug operatives prompting “them to defend (themselves) and return fire“ hitting the suspect in the brief exchange of fire.
Forensic probers recovered the suspect’s handgun, marked P500 bill and one sachet of shabu, police added.
Bruno said the buy–bust was conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
