LUPAO, Nueva Ecija – A suspected drug pusher from Cabanatuan City was killed in an alleged encounter with anti-drugs operatives of this town in a buy-bust operation that turned bloody in Barangay San Pedro here at around 8:30 a.m., Tuesday.
Police identified the suspect as Mar Punzalan, a resident of Barangay MS Garcia, Cabanatuan City.
Capt. Ronan James Eblahan, town police chief, said an undercover policeman was able to buy a sachet of shabu from Punzalan when the suspect drew a .38 revolver and fired at the lawman.
“But he missed” Eblahan said. Responding law enforcers hit the suspect fatally, police said.
Investigators recovered from the suspect the gun with three spent shells.
The anti-drug sting was conducted by the local drug enforcement unit operatives in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, police added.
