Public schools get supplies from NIA

TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija — Ten public schools from this municipality received school supplies, health essentials, and information materials from the National Irrigation Administration- Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation System Division II on Monday.

Division II manager Engr. Alvin L. Manuel, Sr. said the donation was made “in solidarity with the education sector,” especially amid the effects of the pandemic.

The donation included several boxes of bond paper and ink, among other school supplies. There were also gallons of alcohol, face masks, face shields, and a copy of a video presentation of NIA’s orientation for primary educators and learners.

The school recipients were Poblacion Elementary School, Burnay High School, Lomboy Elementary School, Sampaloc Elementary School, Pantoc Bulac Elementary School, Talavera Central School, Casulucan Elementary School, Tagaytay Elementary School, Sicsican Elementary School, and Matingkis Elementary School.

UPRIIS department manager Engr. Rosalinda B. Bote, in her message, expressed their desire to “promote awareness among students the essence and role of the agency in the field of agriculture.”

She also acknowledged the hard work of the Filipino farmers and expressed hope that through proper education the students will recognize the farmers’ untiring effort as the nation aims to attain food sufficiency and security.

Bote and Manuel were joined in the activity by NIA-UPRIIS officials engineering section chief Engr. Marvin C. Bustamante, institutional development unit staff led by Engr. Francisco S. Reyes Jr., Sharon P. Orena, Principal IV of TCS; Lourdes D. Fraile; and Talavera North District supervisor Marilou R. Buenaventura.

Buenaventura, for her part, extended her gratitude to NIA-UPRIIS for the support and donations that were given to the students.

She also showed her appreciation for the irrigation agency’s efforts in reaching out and tagged the activity as “Para sa Bata, Para sa Bayan,” as the Department of Education prepares for the probable face-to-face set-up among the selected schools.
