CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has registered about 10,155,144 individuals in Central Luzon under the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) as of June 30 this year.

This registration reaches 87.8 percent of the target population for the region.

During the ninth episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Philippine Information Agency, PSA Regional Director Arlene Divino emphasized the expanded role of the PSA beyond birth certificates and censuses, highlighting the inclusion of the PhilSys program in their mandate.

“The PhilSys registration has been a crucial addition to our responsibilities, and we are committed to ensuring that every Filipino is registered,” she stated.

The registration for children aged 1 to 4 began in February this year.

By June 30, the PSA had registered about 83,020 children in this age group, equating to roughly 11 percent of the 771,636 total population of 1 to 4-year-olds based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing.

“We encourage all parents to register their children to the nearest PhilSys registration center in our provincial offices,” Divino urged.

To ensure the inclusion of marginalized sectors, PSA has partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to register Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries during their family development sessions.

This initiative is part of a nationwide effort to ensure that all DSWD beneficiaries are included in the PhilSys database.

“This partnership helps us maximize the attendance of our 4Ps beneficiaries, who often lack identification (ID) cards,” Divino explained.

Initially launched in 2021, the National ID program targeted these underserved sectors to provide them with IDs.

Now, PSA conducts house-to-house registrations to reach more individuals, eliminating the need for registration centers in municipal halls.

“If you know anyone without a national ID, inform us, and our PhilSys team will visit their homes to assist them,” she advised.

In Central Luzon, approximately 61 percent of registered individuals have received their physical IDs.

For those still awaiting their IDs, Divino recommended visiting the Philippine Postal Corporation’s website at www.national-id.gov.ph to track the status using their PhilSys Number or ePhilID.

Alternatively, individuals can approach any PSA provincial office or PhilSys registration center for assistance.

For those looking to apply for a national ID without any government-issued ID, the PSA accepts supporting documents such as birth certificates, police clearances, Barangay clearances, and other certificates to establish identity.

“Our goal is to ensure that every Filipino is registered and has access to the benefits of having a national ID,” Divino highlighted.

PSA continues to encourage all residents to participate in the PhilSys program, emphasizing the benefits of a unified national identification system for improving access to services and fostering social inclusion. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3- Pampanga)
