PROPOSED mandatory quarantine of seniors
The DOH wanted is against our norms
Of justice, that deprives the rights of all people
That in effect of it makes them miserable.
Since its drastic order whoever violates
The restriction on nobody is permitted
To go out, how can we be able to purchase
Our essentials if we cannot do it ourselves?
It is so unfair and unconstitutional,
Discriminatory, limiting our human
And civil rights in this so undue ordinance
That pinned us to stay home but nada has so far
To expect and can get from any agency,
The needed assistance since not everybody
Can avail base on what we observed and see,
Since the distribution is selective mostly.
So, senior citizens like for example us
Media practitioners, in print and in broadcast,
Can have our living in our respective jobs,
In such a way we are controlled to go outside?
Yes, the intent of our government is safety
And to protect seniors and other elderly
From being infected, but not everybody
Is weak upon reaching the age around sixty;
Yours truly even if he’s more than eighty two
At this time he can still writes and able to do
All his works for being Columnist of Punto,
And a book writer but he’s active on the go.
Since despite of my age, I can still manage
To supply my column on any up to date

While we appreciate their concern for our safety
Against COVID-19, the best thing we can see,
Is not to stay home, but keep ourselves ready
To combat, as it is a part of our duty.
Many seniors like those 60-65 years
Of age group are still gainfully active
And supporting grandchildren in their studies,
That their parents alone cannot easily give.
Some of us seniors had not been given yet
The so called social amelioration, in effect
Of rumors that the aid is not distributed
Fairly to real beneficiaries listed.
(But to friends, relatives of any officer
Who handled the distribution, and where
In return usually fortunate receiver
Would of course extend share to the commissioner).
What are the criteria that has to be followed
In extending an help or financial support
To anyone, is it by means of ‘PALUSOT’
Or it’s by with whom the request has been approved?
Object of restriction should ensure protection
And ease of living for us neglected seniors,
That makes our day-to-day life comfortable:
Mobility and not by grave Isolation!
