CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A medical and health consultant of Congressman Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin has supported calls for a business tycoon from Apalit town to build a private hospital in the province.
Dr. Vic Lugue, a known surgeon based here and in Angeles City, said the proposal of Gov. Lilia Pineda to Manuel V. Pangilinan to establish a private hospital in Pampanga will provide “world-class medical service.”
“Whether it’s a charity or first class hospital, the service of doctors and personnel should be reliable,” he said.
Lugue added that “there is still a need to build more considering that most of the hospitals are full at any given time in Pampanga.”
He said development in medical health care service should be in steps with the increasing economic activities at the Clark Freeport.
For her part, Pineda said she had asked Pangilinan to establish a private hospital in the province offering “efficient but affordable medical services.”
“We have good hospitals in Pampanga now. But we want to have a hospital which will convince many Capampangan doctors to stay and work in the province,” said Pineda in the dialect over a phone interview recently.
She joined Pangilinan in celebrating his 65th birthday in his native town of Apalit last week.
“It’s only MVP (Pangilinan) who can attract top doctors to work in his hospital,” added Pineda, who shared breakfast and lunch with Pangilinan and Apalit Mayor Oscar Tetangco Jr. at the municipal hall compound on Thursday.
