CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Rogue cops be warned: there is no letup in the Philippine National Police internal cleansing campaign, it has even gone to highgear.
This, with the draconian directives issued by no less than newly appointed PNP chief Gen. Debold Sinas to regain public trust and confidence in the institution, so stressed Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Valeriano De Leon.
“We will continue to weed out hoodlums and punish the undisciplined among our ranks through the strict application of the punitive sanctions for violations of PNP rules and regulations, and intensified counter-intelligence effort against illegal activities of our personnel,” De Leon vowed.
He cited the case of PRO-3 where “from 2016 to date, a total of 3,356 administrative cases have been filed against 5,118 erring personnel.”
Of that total, 677 are police commissioned officers and the remaining 4,441 are police non-commissioned officers, noted the PRO-3 chief.
Records from PRO–3’s Discipline Law and Order Section show that 410 personnel were dismissed from the police service while 411 were suspended, 42 were demoted to the next lower rank and five were separated from the service.
On the other hand, 3,978 were exonerated from their administrative cases.
