SANTA ROSA, Nueva Ecija – Central Luzon police director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan vowed on Monday to deliver justice for the police officer killed by suspects in a supermarket break-in in Barangay Poblacion 1, Penaranda town.

Maranan who visited the wake of PSsg Jon Espinoza in Barangay Mapalad here assured his family that “justice will be served” underscoring that all efforts were being undertaken “to ensure that those responsible for the incident will be held accountable.”

Espinoza was among the policemen who responded to a call that a robbery was happening at STM Supermarket at about 12:16 a.m. Sunday. He was shot in the head by one of the suspects and died in a local hospital.

Maranan, accompanied by Nueva Ecija police chief Col. Ferdinand Germino handed over financial assistance to the family as a gesture of the PNP’s solidarity and commitment to supporting the families of their fallen comrades.

The regional police, he said, stands by their side in this difficult time and will continue to offer support as they cope with their loss.

Mayor Joey Ramos condemned the attack, adding the case was an isolated incident.

“Sana ay mabigyan ng hustisya ‘yung pagkakabaril dun sa ating kapulisan na ‘yan, kay Espinoza. At mahuli sana ‘yung mga gumawa nun sa lalong madaling panahon,” Ramos said.
