CUYAPO, Nueva Ecija – The peace and order capabilities of the municipal police got a big boost with a new patrol vehicle and several long firearms received from the Police Regional Office-3 on March 4.

PRO-3 chief Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo, Jr. personally turned over a fully set-up AUV as mobile patrol car, 20 Galil automatic rifles, 80 magazines with ammunition, and 50 handcuffs to municipal police chief Lt. Col. Erwin V. Ferry in ceremonies witnessed by Mayor Florida P. Esteban, Nueva Ecija police director Col. Richard V. Caballero, and other officials.

Hidalgo said he also sent in 29 additional PNP personnel here to beef up its manpower in this town which is a first-class municipality with 51 villages.

This provision of equipment will be followed with more training to both the police and village peacekeepers, said Hidalgo, a native of this town.

“Gusto nating mag-improve ang performance ng ating kapulisan kailangan magkaroon sila ng kaukulang kaalaman kung paano magresponde,” he said, noting that PRO3 aims to improve the capabilities of all stations in the region that include the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga and Zambales.

He underscored the need for a strong cooperation of the people and the police as he pushed for “partnership” between them: “Gusto nating patibayin at gusto nating ma-establish ‘yung magandang relasyon ng kapulisan sa pamayanan.”

Esteban, for her part expressed gratitude to the effort in maintaining peace in order and establishing partnership with the people. While no major breach in order has occurred here, she said keeping a sound peace and order is a requisite of progress.

“Para sa development, para sa progress ng bawat bayan. So, maganda pong adhikain at sana ay maiparating at talagang maipadama sa mamamayan na ang mga kapulisan ay hindi dapat kinatatakutan kundi dapat nirerespeto at binibigyan ng pagtitiwala,” Esteban said.
