BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Catholic priests and mayors in Bataan held a basketball match Saturday at the giant Bataan People’s Center here to raise funds for the Residencia Sacerdotal or Bataan Clergy Retirement Home.
It was dubbed “Padres Y Alcaldes Basketball Game”.
Bishop Ruperto Cruz of the Diocese of Balanga and Bataan Gov. Enrique Garcia made the ceremonial toss.
Some town executives fell on the hard court several times apparently due to exhaustion. There were about 20 playing priests led by the bishop himself who called for substitution while there were only a few players from the local government unit.
It was a close match. Priests exhibited good close guarding. They, however, lost by a few points to LGU players.
