BALANGA CITY — After two unscheduled power interruptions in the middle of the night Thursday, electric power was finally restored in four towns and a city in Bataan at 7:14 in the morning of Friday, July 21.
The Peninsula Electric Cooperative (Penelco) wrote in its official social media page that power supply in the areas of Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay and Balanga City was back
“Corrective activities on the burnt 69kV disconnect switch have been completed at 3 a.m. but trial energization failed. Consequent foot patrol found a cut conductor at pole No. 38 along Hermosa area. Appropriate action was taken to repair the damaged portion of the line,” Penelco said.
Penelco first announced that there was an emergency power interruption in four towns and one city caused by the tripping of the Hermosa – Balanga 69 KV line at a time when there was inclement weather in the affected areas.
In Samal town, lights went out at about 11:30 in the evening of Thursday after thunderstorm and rains stopped. Power was restored at about 1:30 at dawn of Friday or after about two hours.
Penelco has just announced that power was back when after a few minutes, lights were off again. It said that this time linemen were fixing the damage on the pole-mounted 69KV disconnect switch of the Hermosa-Balanga 69 KV line along Samal area.
After the repair of the 69 KV line, it turned out that there was a cut conductor at pole No. 38 that linemen had to address.
Penelco apologized for the inconvenience brought about by the two power interruptions.
