SAN ISIDRO, Nueva Ecija – An electric cooperative that serves Gapan City and several municipalities in this province’s fourth congressional district announced extension of its temporary closure pending result of swab tests on its employees.
“Extended ang pansamantalang tigil-operasyon ng lahat ng opisina ng NEECO1 hanggang sa susunod na lingo, August 24–28, 2020. Ito ay bilang pagsunod sa DOH Protocol na kailangan pa rin sumailalim sa home quarantine ang mga kawani ng NEECO1 matapos ang swab testing,” said the Nueva Ecija 1 Electric Cooperative in an announcement on Friday.
NEECO 1 originally set its closure from Aug. 17 to 21, 2020 to give way for disinfection activities in its main office in this municipality and district offices in Gapan City and the towns of Cabiao, Jaen, San Antonio, and San Leonardo.
This developed as Covid-19 affected several employees of the power cooperative.
The cooperative will resume business on Aug. 31, the management said. It stressed, however, that there will be skeleton forces of technical services and linemen to maintain delivery of power services.
“Dahil sa extended ang tigil-operasyon ng NEECO1, nais iparating ng pangasiwaan na hindi muna papatawan ng multa ang mga electric bills na may due date mula August 17–28, 2020,” it said, adding that there will also be no disconnection during the shutdown.
Meanwhile, the Nueva Ecija inter-agency task force has logged 347 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province as of writing.
Of the figure, 165 are active, 166 have recovered, and 16 died.
