Vice Mayor David and Mayor De La Cruz.
PORAC, Pampanga – Mayor Condralito “Carling” de La Cruz and his vice mayor, Dexter David both rewrote the political history of this town founded in 1907 with no one opposing them for the 2013 elections.
In a phone interview on Monday, David said he and De La Cruz “are so thankful to the people because being unchallenged means we worked and performed well.”
“Teamwork and respect for each other allowed me and Mayor De La Cruz to properly deliver basic services to the more than 120,000 residents of Porac,” said David.
He added that he had been informed that since leaders were determined by elections in Pampanga’s largest town in terms of land area, it’s the first time the incumbents were not challenged for re-election.
David disclosed that under their watch since 2010, the yearly income of the town from quarrying increased by at least 30 percent compared to the previous administration. The annual income was at least P29 million beginning 2011 compared to an average of about P22 million from 2007 to 2010.
“We also made sure that our fiscal management is in tune with the provision of the local and national laws,” said David, brother of Second District Board Member Olga Frances “Fritzie” David-Dizon who decided not to seek re-election.
For his part, De La Cruz thanked Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda for her administration’s all-out support to their health, education and agriculture programs.
“We were inspired by the hardworking governor,” said De La Cruz in the dialect.
De La Cruz said they will prioritize more students to enroll at the satellite campus of the Don Honorio Ventura Technical State University (DHVTSU). He and David last year pushed for the opening of the first public college in the first class municipality.
