PORAC, Pampanga — Mayor Jaime “Jing” Capil has filed cyber libel cases against three individuals who had been “spreading reckless and false” accusations against him on social media.

Capil, who has already explained his side in hearings at the Senate and House investigations on the operations of illegal activities of Lucky South 99, a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator located in Porac, described the allegations against him as “fabricated, and delusional all made up to malign his honor, reputation and his personal and family life.”

“Matapos ko pong harapin ang Senado at Kongreso, nandito naman po ako para harapin ang malisyoso at walang basehan na paninira sa aking pagkatao,” said the mayor.

Capil lodged cyber libel charges before the Pampanga Prosecutor’s Office in the City of San Fernando on July 26, against Pyra Lucas, Heidi Dianne Dela Cruz, and Noel De Leon. Lucas and Dela Cruz will face four counts of cyber libel each while De Leon will face one count.

The respondents had been alleging that Capil benefited from the POGO operations in Porac town. The Lucky South 99 had already been shut down by government authorities after the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. did not renew its permit.

The Porac LGU also did not renew the business permit of Lucky South 99 for 2024 citing violations.

“Gustuhin ko man pong pagpasensyahan at balewalain ang paninirang kanilang ginagawa, hindi ko na po maaatim dahil personal na po at apektado na ang aking pamilya,” Capil said.

“Bilang ama din ng aming Bayan ng Porac, parang ang bayan mismo ang kanilang sinisira sa pagpapakalat ng fake news,” he added.

Capil said he is now seeking legal remedy so that the truth will come out.

Despite the issues, Capil who took office in 2019 is still being supported by most Porac residents who benefitted from the transformation of Porac into a progressive municipality. Porac is vying to become a city.

Capil has also supported the announcement of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ban POGOs in the country. Press release
