CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The political season has started as various candidates filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) one after the other mainly at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office here as well as in its offices in different parts of the province.
The Pinedas led by Gov. Lilia G. Pineda filed their COCs at 3 p.m. on Friday at the Comelec provincial office here.
Gov. Pineda filed her COC for vice governor while Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda will run for governor in the 2019 polls under the Kambilan party.
Also filing her COC was Lubao Mayor Mylyn P. Cayabyab for second district provincial board member while her elder sister, Esmeralda “Esmi” Pineda, filed her COC for Lubao mayor at the Comelec in Lubao with her running mate municipal councilor Jay Montemayor and their entire slate in the municipal council.
On Monday, comebacking congressman Joseller “Yeng” Guiao filed his COC at the Comelec office here vowing to retake his seat as representative in the province’s first district.
Also, on Monday, Efren “Steekie” Blanco filed his COC for Bacolor vice mayor promising to bring back the old glory of the town. He is the son of former long-time Bacolor mayor Norberto Blanco and elder brother of Angie Blanco, action officer of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council of Pampanga.
In this capital city, Mayor Edwin “Edsa” Santiago and Vice Mayor Jimmy T. Lazatin filed their respective COCs for reelection with Lazatin declaring that he will unify San Fernando.
On Tuesday Rep. Carmelo “Jon-jon” Lazatin II filed his COC for reelection while his brother, city councilor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. filed his COC for mayor of Angeles City with his running mate former vice mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting and his complete slate in the city council after hearing Holy Mass.
Filing their COCs for city councilors with the Lazatins were Atty. Angelo “Pinggoy” Lopez III, Angelito Indiongco, Atty. Arvin “Pogs” Suller, Idy Pamintuan, Philip Pangilinan-Samson, Rudy Simeon, Ney Nepomuceno and Marino Banola.
Earlier on Friday, former congressman Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo filed his COC for the second congressional district at the Comelec provincial office here.
