City police director, Supt. Bayani Razalan, identified victim as PO3 Jessie Cabanlong Y Padua, of Barangay Militar, Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija who was just newly assigned at San Clemente Police Station in Tarlac province.
Razalan said the victim was crossing the road while the suspect was coming from the opposite direction. The suspect suddenly drew his firearm and shot the victim in the head which caused his instantaneous death.
After the incident, the suspect was reportedly fetched by an unknown type of motorcycle driven by an unidentified person that sped-off towards the south direction.
Upon getting the report, a dragnet operation was immediately conducted to for the possible apprehension of the suspect.
The SOCO team that processed the crime scene recovered a .45 caliber slug while a .45 caliber pistol loaded with ammo was recovered from the victim.
Razalan said the victim was a former member of the Provincial Public Safety Company in Nueva Ecija designated as an Intelligence Operative.
Police theorized that the killing was due to his previous assignment figuring in the arrest of a number of criminal elements particularly those involved in illegal drugs activities in Nueva Ecija.
