BALANGA CITY — The Bataan police on Tuesday announced that only 40 out of 236 barangays in the province remain affected with illegal drugs and expressed hope that it will be drugfree before the end of this month.

“Nakikita na ang araw-araw na pagsusumikap natin, nararamdaman na ng ating mga kababayan ang epekto ng ating pinagsama-samang pagkilos. We are a few steps away to the impossible dream of having a drug-free province,” declared Senior Supt. Benjamin Silo, Jr., Bataan police director.

He said he was hopeful that they will be able to clear the remaining villages from any influence of drugs before the end of September, 2016.

“Isa tayo sa nangangarap na ang Bataan ay maging kauna-unahang probinsiya na magiging libre na sa illegal drugs,” Silo, a lawyer, said.

He made the announcement during the celebration of the 115th Police Service anniversary at Camp Tolentino, seat of the police provincial office in Balanga City.

Awards were given to civilians and government officials “for invaluable support and cooperation to the Bataan Police provincial office.”

Some police officers also received awards for their outstanding performance in the campaign against illegal drugs.
