BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Bataan police provincial office on Wednesday formally opened its training for Special Counter-Insurgency Operation Unit or SCOUT composed of 41 men and 10 women police officers.

Senior Supt. Arnold Gunnacao, Bataan police director, said the trainees who have the rank of Police Officer I will undergo training for 45 days at the Lamao Firing Range in Limay, Bataan.

Bataan became the fourth area in Region 3 that has launched SCOUT training. Similar activities were held in Aurora Province, the police regional headquarters in San Fernando, Pampanga and Olongapo City.

In the opening program at Camp Tolentino in Balanga City, the trainees got the taste of endurance activities waiting for them during the duration of their training.

They were subjected grueling exercises under the heat of the sun. Some got exhausted and were permitted to rest under an umbrella. An ambulance and a set of medical crew were on standby.

Insp. Dennis Orbista, police information officer, said that the workouts in the first day are just but the beginning of more rigid activities that the trainees will have to endure to prepare them in police operations.

A woman police officer despite the hard training said she does not regret joining the Philippine National Police.
