His remains lie at the Funeraria Pangilinan, along MacArthur Highway in Barangay San Francisco, Mabalacat City. Interment will be 3 p.m., Sunday (Jan. 17), Old Mabalacat Public Cemetery.
Policarpio wrote the long-running column “Puwede Po Ba” in The Voice, Central Luzon’s oldest newspaper before writing for other local publications in the province, the last of which was Angeles Observer. He also had radio programs over now defunct DZYA and DZAP, as well as DWGV-AM.
Considered as one of the remaining “old guards” of the Pampanga Press Club which he once served as president, Policarpio also held the presidency of the Angeles City Press and Radio Club, the Central Luzon Media Association, and the provincial correspondents’ association of Balita.
“Rizal is a great loss not only to the Pampanga Press Club but to provincial journalism,having dedicated his whole life to it,” said incoming PPC President Deng Pangilinan who announced his demise during the club’s forum Talk Widus last Wednesday.
Policarpio was also an officer of the Knights of Columbus and the Knights of Rizal chapters in Angeles City.
A bachelor, Policarpio is survived by siblings, nephews and nieces.
