Pokwang on board

AY TAKLESA – tactless, in swardspeak – a gay coffee confederate says of one Capitol character he named BM.

And over cups of café Americano – he loves everything robust, he says – he he regaled me with BM’s adventures in tactlessness, if only to prove his point.

So did you hear of BM being a drug-pusher during the recent election campaign?

That is a serious charge. That has nothing to do with being tactless. That’s patently criminal.

Ay , Papa B, what I mean is: while other candidates were handing out cash and candies, BM was shelling out Chinese-made sex-enhancing drugs to the voters. Making out like a hawker shouting, “pampatig_s, pampatig_s.” Oh, it was always raining men in BM’s sorties.

Inggit ka lang. What you find hard to get, this BM easily takes.

Demure lang me, Papa B. Upbringing ko ay kolehiyala, hindi palengkera. And I don’t call the rubbing disinfectant as “ar-kuhol” like BM did in a recent television interview.

    What can I say?

Yes, what can you say indeed, of BM still on the campaign trail, publicly scolding a partymate to his face, in front of the latter’s own townmates?

    How did this happen?

The partymate had finished making his campaign pitch. BM stood, turned to the partymate and promptly told him to repent, stop impregnating pubescent girls to avoid scandals and court cases.

Ain’t that JQ, the idol of every aspiring playboy?

So who else in the provincial board got involved in the so-called “Bacolor scandal” where a seventeener cried she was implanted with JQ’s seeds and promptly lodged a case versus the board member?

But the case was settled long before the campaign period, and JQ’s free of any legal entanglement.

Well, that was BM being tactlessly insensitive to the feelings of a partymate.

No, that was BM showing political shrewdness. BM finding and taking capital stock on JQ’s disgrace.

Ay, Papa B, you are so kind to BM who has only unkind words for mediamen like you.

So I admit, a number of us mediamen were treated discourteously one time at the gate of BM’s palatial home. The guards there held every mediaman for questioning which intensity rivaled those routinely done at visitors to the White House. But unkind words about us from BM, I have not heard of. So tell me.

BM is parroting how one mediaman – of the third, and my kind – periodically asked for money at every coverage, at one time charging BM five thousand pesos for a CD of the BM’s pictures which when viewed had only two photos of the BM whose face was hardly distinguishable in a group.

    That’s it?

BM telling another mediaman – in the company of his colleagues – that BM had some money for him but did not give it because there were a lot of people around.

    That’s publicly shaming the mediaman.

That’s tactless viciousness. BM looks at media as purely “envelopmental,” clearly taking after the jargon popularized in showbiz circles by Manay Lolit Solis as “the relevance of the white envelope.” Bayaran, paid hacks, if not mukhang pera. The media here are to her.

That’s showbiz. So where’s the “connect” to BM?

You call yourself a keen observer of events and people and you still ask? Look at BM, whom are you reminded of?

Well, my esteemed colleague, the romanticist Ram Mercado saw a cross between Amy Austria and Carmi Martin. And I tend to agree, an ageing Austria and Martin, that is.

Ay, Papa B, you are incurably myopic. There’s Pokwang in all her glory in the BM before you.

Oh yes. Pokwang and BM are like twins separated at birth. Pokwang’s storied tactlessness though is for reel. For laughs.

Yes and the tactlessness of this Pokwang on board is for real.

So what’s the BM moniker for, simply board member?

    No, “Bobita M.”

Is that for little boba? Reminds me of another showbiz character – Boobah.

    That’s another story, Papa B.
