Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. gets Sinovac jab.

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. received Wednesday his first dose of the Sinovac vaccine at the City College of Angeles after the inter-agency task force approved the inclusion of local chief executives under the priority groups.

“I would like to thank the national government, for recognizing the vital role of mayors and governors as frontliners in leading the local Covid-19 task force implementing programs towards our common goal of eradicating the virus in our country,” Lazatin said.

Also getting her first dose of Sinovac was the mayor’s chief adviser IC Calaguas who has a medical condition.

Both Lazatin and Calaguas waited in line and followed the six-step vaccination procedure.

“Currently, the city is in the process of vaccinating health workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities, using the Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines donated by the DOH and World Health Organization,” said Calaguas.

As of May 16, a total of 8,917 individuals have already been vaccinated with their first dose of AstraZeneca, while 2,076 received their first dose of Sinovac.

The ongoing vaccination being conducted at the CCA is strictly via schedule based on the data gathered in the house-to-house survey and online registration.

Walk-ins are not allowed which would defeat the purpose of the online registration, survey and monitoring, and scheduling.

To date, 25 out of 33 barangays have been surveyed by the deployed teams from the city government, headed by Gender and Development Office chief Mina Cabiles.

Lazatin is urging his constituents to do the online registration at angelescity.gov.ph and to participate in the house-to-house survey in order to build an updated database for the city’s Covid-19 vaccination.

Lazatin also reminded all residents to be mindful of the information they get regarding the city’s ongoing vaccination, especially with the spread of fake news on social media.

“Huwag po tayong basta-basta maniniwala sa mga nababasa natin sa social media, patungkol sa schedule ng pagbabakuna sa siyudad. Lahat ng tamang impormasyon ay manggagaling lamang sa official Facebook page ng city information office,” Lazatin furthered.
