ANGELES CITY – “A testament to our commitment to quality public service.”
Thus, Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr. called the 27 awards of recognition and
citations bestowed upon his administration in the past five years, serving as one
of the highlights of his 5 th State of the City Address delivered on June 24 at the
Sangguniang Panlungsod Legislative Building.
Among the most recent recognitions was Angeles City hailed as one of the largest
urban economies in the world, ranking 5 th in the Philippines, by the UK-based
thinktank Oxford Economics.
Notable awards recognizing the leadership of Lazatin included the Seal of Good
Local Governance, SubayBAYANI, Gawad Kalasag and Gawad Makabata. The city
was also a national finalist in the Walang Gutom Awards of the Department of
Social Welfare and Development for its “Walang Plastikan: Plastik Palit Bigas”
project.
In his SOCA, Lazatin paid tribute to the city department heads, chiefs of offices
and fellow government employees for “keeping the firebrand leadership of
Lazatin burning” that merited the recognition from prestigious government and
non-government organizations nationally and even globally.
"I take this opportunity to thank the men and women of Angeles City Hall, the
Angeles City Council led by Vice Mayor Ma. Vicenta Vega-Cabigting, and the
barangay officials and employees for their support to our administration and
dedication to their sworn duties to each Angeleño," the mayor said.
"Kayong lahat na kawani at kasamahan ko dito sa pamamahala ng Lungsod
Angeles ang mga makabago at tunay na bayani," Lazatin added. "I can never
thank you enough."
With exactly 344 days at city hall before his current term ends, Lazatin said he will
not slow down, but rather will remain steadfast more than ever and hold true his
