CABANATUAN CITY – “We’ve got it all, for you.” SM’s signature jingle just got a little more with the opening on Monday of gun licensing assistance center at the SM City Cabanatuan.
Col. Noli Asuncion, chief of the Central Luzon police’s Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU), said the opening of their assistance center does not only expedite the process of licensing firearms but also make it less expensive for residents of Nueva Ecija and adjoining provinces as envisioned by the PNP.
Prior to Monday’s opening, locals have to go to Camp Crame in Quezon City or Camp Olivas in Pampanga to process gun documents.
“Ito po ay magki-cater ng dalawang license – license to own and possess firearms (LTOFP) for private individuals, at license to exercise security profession (LESP) for the security sector,” Asuncion said as he expressed gratitude to the mall management for inviting them to put up the center. “Ngayon ay ibinababa na natin ang ating services dito sa mall so while shopping with your families ay puwede na kayong mag-submit ng documents,” he added.
By personally submitting documents to the person in charge at the center, applicants can be advised on all the requirements as against the usual problem in sending them through mails. “Minsan ay maipadadala by mail, kulang pala kaya maraming panahon ang nakukonsumo,” the official noted.
Except for neuro exam, everything can be processed at the center, he added. Asuncion said they will be operating on mall hours from Mondays to Fridays. They are also working to have the center open on weekends and the possibility of putting up a booth for police clearance, he added.
Michelle Charlene Chua, assistant mall manager, assured the public that all health and safety protocols are in place as the RCSU gun licensing center was only the latest among various agencies currently serving the public at the government express center located at the mall’s third floor.
“We want to give the full service to our customers, not just the shopping experience but also the convenience na hindi na sila pipila sa mga government offices natin sa labas kundi dadalhin din natin dito sa mall,” Chua explained.
Also present during the event were government services for operations consultant Ma. Luz Generoso, Nueva Ecija police provincial office’s deputy director for administration Lt. Col. Marlon Cacho, RCSU3 deputy chief Lt. Col. Ben Kimayong, and SM regional customer relations officer Francis Nuega.
