CLARK FREEPORT – Security personnel of the stateowned Clark Development Corp. (CDC) arrested Monday a son of PNP chief General Oscar Albayalde and his purported police escorts while their vehicles were parked at the Parade Grounds here.

A source from the Mabalacat City police who asked not to be named for lack of authority to release data identifi ed the son as Kevin Albayalde, while the names of his police escorts were not immediately available.

The source said that CDC cops arrested Kevin and his companion at about 9 a.m. in an apparent case of wrong identity. Kevin was apparently mistaken to be a foreigner being sought by the CDC for some bad record.

But there were also reports that the CDC police nabbed Kevin and companions because of wayward parking at the park.

The source said Kevin identified himself as a son of the PNP chief, but he and his companions were hauled anyway to the office of CDC Public Security Department chief, retired police Chief Supt. Romeo Ver.

Ver reportedly turned profusely apologetic upon verifying that Kevin was indeed the son of the PNP chief.

Ver was reported to have resigned soon after the incident, but there were reports he was fired.

No one could also confirm whether CDC cops who confronted Kevin’s party found firearms in the possession of the Kevin’s police escorts, in violation of the gun ban of the Commission on Elections.

Punto called up the office of the CDC security department, but was told no official was around to release information. A texted request for interview with CDC president Noel Manankil also elicited no response.

Except for the source, personnel from the Mabalacat police also said they were not authorized to release information on the case.

The PNP chief hails from the City of San Fernando in Pampanga province and has residence in nearby Angeles City.
