ANGELES CITY Operatives of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group-Luzon Field Unit arrested over the weekend in a barangay here three Chinese nationals suspected of kidnapping a Vietnamese-Chinese woman who worked in a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO).

In a statement issued Monday, the PNP-AKG identified the POGO employee as Ms. Vong Cam Lan who was rescued Saturday inside a residential unit at Block 9, Lot-10A Hanin Town Subdivision in Barangay Pampang.

The suspects who declined to give their names in an earlier police spot report were identified by the PNP-AKG as Rouhan Li, Qiang Zhang, and Jing Li, all Chinese nationals.

Under the direct supervision of PNPAKG director Brig. Gen. Jonnel C. Estomo, the rescue operations were led by Col. Villaflor S. Bannawagan, chief of PNP-AKG-LFU, in coordination with Police Station 2 of Angeles City.

The operation was laid out after the victims husband Law Wan Yuan reported to police his wife was kidnapped at around 1 p.m., Nov. 18, at Jazz Mall Residences in Makati City by a group of Chinese and brought to Angeles City.

The suspects demanded a ransom of P161,800 for the victims immediate release.

The PNP-AKG said Ms. Vong Cam Lan positively identified the arrested suspects as among her abductors.

The suspects are now detained at the PNP-AKG lockup jail for investigation and documentation for filling appropriate charges in court.

In a separate statement, PNP chief General DeboldSinas called on POGO operators strongly urging [them] to closely coordinate with the PNP on security concerns and to refrain from handling these matters on their own.

Media have reported on several POGO-related kidnappings this year, including one in Pampanga last February, another in Paranaque last July, and one other in Las Pinas last August.

Mostly the suspects as well as their victims were Chinese nationals.

The PNP noted a rise in kidnapping cases in 2019 due to POGOs and casinos.
