PLDT Q3 core income grows to P23.1-B

MABALACAT CITY – Being the country’s largest integrated telecommunications company, PLDT Inc., on Thursday, announced its telco core income jumped to 10 percent at P23.1 billion.

PLDT reported its consolidated service revenues grew by 11 percent to P135.9 billion from January to September, setting an all-time high for its net service revenue to P46-billion from its third quarter performance.

PLDT and Smart president and CEO Alfredo Panlilio expressed his optimism and satisfaction on the company’s current financial report as the country’s economy slowly reopens amid Covid-19.

“We are best positioned to serve our customers through the new normal, as evidenced by our strong results for the first nine months of 2021,” he said.

PLDT Home reaffirmed its strong position on sustaining its growth with a 25 percent revenue increase from January to September noting that its Fiber-only revenue grew by 78 percent during the same period.

As of the end of September, PLDT reported a total of 802,000 new Fiber customers with a record high of 114,000 installations for the month of September. Panlilio said that PLDT is on track on its 1 million target of new Fiber subscribers by this year.

PLDT also reported a three percent growth on its individual service revenue to P65.1 billion as its mobile data users increased to 40 million of which its data and wireless broadband pushed its revenues up to 80 percent.

“While all business units continue to show solid performance, it is more apparent in the Home business, where we pushed record installations in recognition of the connectivity needs of our customers,” said Panlilio.

Enhancing PLDT’s existing solutions and services, PayMaya and Maya Bank will promote a seamless digital banking experience among customers through its strong affiliation with PLDT and Smart.

“We are also trying to integrate seamlessly with PayMaya and really drive financial inclusion and we’ll continue to collaborate with PayMaya and make sure that our subscribers take advantage of this capability,” said Panlilio.

Meanwhile, PLDT also reported that 95 percent of its workforce nationwide are now fully-vaccinated and vaccination of dependents and household members is ongoing.
