STA. RITA, Pampanga – Mayor Yolanda Pineda recently led the distribution of tricycle units, solidifying her commitment to maintain peace and order in the fourth class municipality.

Pineda recently distributed tricycle units to each of the 10 barangays to boost village leaders’ capability to response to emergencies and maintain peace and order.

The tricycles came from Gov. Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda who had been distributing them to some 500 villages in the province since last year.

Earlier this year, Gov. Pineda and Lubao Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab led the distribution of more than 40 tricycle units in the barangays of the town.

In her speech before barangay officials, Gov. Pineda said her government “is committed to make the province a peaceful and progressive area.”

Mayor Cayabyab-Pineda welcomed the donation of the provincial government, “saying they will be of good use.”

Gov. Pineda and the two mayors made sure that all of the town’s barangays received their service motorcycles. The distribution was held at the Sta. Rita public plaza and at the back of the Lubao town hall.

For her part, Mayor Pineda said the tricycle units will augment the multi-cab units given to the barangays through a joint funding from the municipal government and then president, now Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of Pampanga’s Second District.

“We are fortunate that we have been recipients of these projects from the national and provincial leaders,” Mayor Pineda said.

The mayor, who is now in her second term in office, said peace and order and disaster response capability among barangay leaders are among the focal points in her administration.

Given that the town is several kilometers away from the provincial capital, Mayor Yolly said the municipal government needs to perk up the efficiency of barangay leaders in responding to any type of emergencies.

During the recent flooding, induced by typhoon Pedring, the local government unit noted no casualties, which was credited to the efficient disaster management plan of the barangays and municipal government.

Mayor Yolly reminded the recipients of the tricycle units to take good care of the vehicles and conduct regular maintenance thereto.

“Sana po ay pagmalasakitan ninyo ang mga sasakyan na ibinigay sa atin para magamit natin ito ng matagal.

Hindi po biro ang perang inilaan ng ating pamahalaan para maibigay sa atin ang ganitong mga kagamitan,” said Pineda, wife of former Lubao Mayor Dennis Pineda.
