CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Gov. Lilia “Baby” Pineda has announced that at least 500 welders from Pampanga will undergo training at the Hanjin shipyard in Subic, Zambales as part of the provincial government’s aggressive job generation program.
This was according to First District Board Member Tars Halili, chairman of the provincial board’s committee on labor, during an interview.
During a recent visit of the governor at the shipyard, Halili said Pineda and Hanjin officials agreed to train Kapampangan welders.
Pineda will provide the housing units of the welders in Subic.
Halili said Pineda will also give P150 per day allowance to the trainees.
“The governor puts into the consideration those who have their respective family. They might not concentrate if they have hungry stomachs waiting at home,” said Halili.
Pineda will also provide the daily food for the welders as the training may last for three months, it was learned.
Mabalacat Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales and Second District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo accompanied Pineda during the visit at the shipyard owned by the Hanjin Group Korean Conglomerate.
Pineda asked Halili and the provincial employment office to coordinate for the gathering of the qualified welders for the immediate start of the training program.
