MANILA — The No. 1 Destination for Overnight Stays in Region 1 – Bolinao, Pangasinan – has just leveled up as the country’s Best Municipality Tourism Destination at the inaugural Philippine Tourism Awards held on Sept. 8 at Okada Manila, Parañaque City.
In celebration of the 50th founding anniversary of the Department of Tourism, the awards are given to communities, innovators, and enterprises that have contributed to the growth of the country’s tourism sector.

With its pristine beaches, iconic rock formations, vibrant festivals, and community-driven tourism programs, Bolinao has established itself as one of the country’s premier destinations.
In her message, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said the awards highlighted tourism’s essential role as both a livelihood and a source of national pride.
“Tourism is a driving force of progress and a fount of hope for millions of Filipinos. It is sustenance, dignity, and the promise of a better tomorrow,” she said, noting that even as the tourism industry remained underestimated, it continues to sustain millions of Filipinos, from farmers supplying hotels to artisans showcasing local culture and hospitality staff.
