ANGELES CITY— The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) will hold its 2nd nationwide registration day this Saturday in over a hundred public elementary schools nationwide in its bid to insure parents, teachers and non-teaching personnel in the schools.

PhilHealth decided to hold a second simultaneous health insurance enlistment day dubbed as PhilHealth Sabado II in schools so as to encourage parents and family members of public school students as well as non-teaching personnel like janitors to become PhilHealth members so that they will be able to gain access to financial protection for their hospitalization needs,” PhilHealth information officer Ruth Gladys Carlos said.

“New registrants are advised to bring any valid ID (like driver’s license and voter’s ID) and P300 as a payment for one quarter,” she said.

Carlos said those who will declare legal dependents must bring photocopies of documents showing the registrant’s relationship to the dependent,  such as birth certificate, marriage contract or senior citizens ID.

In Central Luzon, the PhilHealth Sabado II venues are Arayat West Central School and Floridablanca East Central School in Pampanga; Limay Elementary School in Bataan; San Marcelino Elementary School and Masinloc Elementary School in Zambales; Camiling Central School in Tarlac; Camias Elementary School (San Miguel) and Cong. Erasmo R. Cruz Memorial Central School (Bocaue) in Bulacan; General Tinio Central Elementary School and Cuyapo Central School in Nueva Ecija; and Dilasag Central School in Aurora.

Meanwhile, indigent families listed under the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development will be issued PhilHealth cards on the said day, Carlos added.

Apart from registering new members, the nationwide project this Saturday “ also seeks to educate its stakeholders about the medical care benefits under the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP) and how these can be availed,” Carlos added.

She noted that the project is part of the universal health agenda of thr President who, during his inaugural address, had vowed to make health services accessible to all Filipinos, particularly  the poorest of the poor,  in three years.
