The discussions focus on Cancer information, prevention, symptoms, PhilHealth benefit package for cancer and other catastrophic illnesses, list of PhilHealth Z Benefits contracted facilities, as well as overview on the YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan) program as primary and preventive care for the members. Through awareness and collaborative efforts, PhilHealth empowers the barangay health workers (BHWs), health care providers, and communities on healthy living, regular check-up, monitoring, early detection of illness, and accessibility of health care facilities to ensure financial risk protection of all members.

On preventive care, PhilHealth enhanced the previous Konsulta benefits through the YAKAP program which covers check-up, health screening, laboratory, cancer screening, and essential medicines.

Zyra T. Garcia, Coordinator of DOH-CHD for Regional Cancer Control Program, emphasizes that BHWs are guardians of health in their barangays (“๐antay ng kalusugan”); their roles to encourage (“๐ikayat”) the community to be aware of the cancer screening services and facilities available in their areas; and to make sure that no one shall be left behind (“๐ชalang iwanan “) in the provision of quality health care and services even in those located in far flung areas (Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas).
