ANGELES CITY — Philippine flags were installed in the city hall premises and its off-site offices today on May 27 in observance of the 127th National Flag Day on May 28 and in preparation for Philippine Independence Day on June 12.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. ordered the installation of flags in compliance with Presidential Proclamation No. 374 and Executive Order No. 79.

“More than the installation of flags, this is part of the city’s efforts to remember the country’s victories during the colonial period and to promote patriotism and love for the country,” Lazatin said.

Presidential Proclamation No. 374 designates May 28 as National Flag Day, commemorating the first display of the Philippine flag after a significant victory by the Philippine Revolutionary Army in 1898. Executive Order No. 79 extends the celebration until June 12 and encourages all Filipinos to display the flag in public and private spaces—such as offices, schools, businesses, and homes—throughout the period.

This annual tradition underscores the city government’s commitment to honoring national heritage and instilling pride in the country’s history among Angeleños. Angeles CIO
