MABALACAT CITY — Residents of this city and neighboring towns have been experiencing power outages since 1:15 a.m. Thursday due to the strong winds brought by Typhoon Ulysses.

Affected by the outage are all barangays in this city, as well as those in the neighboring towns of Porac, Guagua and Bacolor which are under the Pampanga Electric Cooperative 2.

In a statement released on its Facebook page ThursdayPelco 2 said power outages are being experienced in its coverage areas due to the intensity of the typhoon and potential damage to power lines and poles. It also saidthat the restoration of electric service may take longer than usual as restoration works will only start once strong winds have subsided for safety reasons.

According to Poll Soliman, Pelco 2 customer service representative, power restoration in some isolated areas are currently ongoing.

“Deta pung mangaragul lines reng inuna tamu napun angga nandin ganingaldo. Kayari na nita karin la pa mig proceed kareng lateral feeders going to household na la pu. Inuna ta ya mu pu ing kekatamung backbone (The major lines have been prioritized since yesterday until early morning. After that, they will proceed to lateral feeders going to households. We just need to prioritize the back bone first),” he said.

In an updated statement posted later Thursday, Pelco 2 said, restoration works are being administered by its technical personnel as line clearing operation on transmission-NGCP lines is being prioritized followed by substation lines to secondary lines and the household levels.

“Ing binye da pung update kekatamu they will make it a point to restore remaining lines within the day, provided alang maragul na problems karening isolated areas,” Soliman said.

“Based on our records, Mabiga is not included in isolated areas since lines have already been restored. However, if there are still portions that are still affected, transformation issues are possibly the cause which would also need to be attended to,” he assured.

As of posting, some areas in Mabiga, Sta. Ines, Poblacion, Mawaque Maragul, Paralayunan, Bundagul, Sapang Balen, Sta. Maria Homesite and some portions of Barangay Tabun such as Fiesta Communities, as well as Xevera, and isolated areas in Barangay Duquit, and Sta. Lucia barrio in Magalang are still experiencing power outages.

Pelco 2 appeals for patience as they continue to restore the power lines to all barangays affected in this city and its coverage areas.
