CLARK FREEPORT – A scrap agent at the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) yesterday accused Canbada Mayor Jerry Pelayo of threatening to shoot her last year and denied “bribing” the latter’s son in connection with the alleged illegal demolition of 16 buildings at the CIAC property.

“Sinabi po ni Mayor Pelayo na huwag kong gagalawin ang building niya (Farm Fresh) kung hindi babarilin niya ako (Mayor Pelayo told me not to touch his building otherwise he will shoot me),” Josie Gomez of Barangay Atlu Bola, Mabalacat, in a statement sent to Punto. She reportedly served as an agent to Aetas and buyers of scrap materials taken from the buildings.

Pelayo vehemently denied the allegations of Gomez. He said she was with three others when they met last year.

“How could you threat someone when there are other people with you?” Pelayo said.

He stressed that Gomez’s “lies” should not even be entertained by him because he is against CIAC President and CEO Victor Jose Luciano and the “wrong thing he did at the aviation complex.”

Gomez denied the allegations of Pelayo that she had offered P450,000 to his son, Patrick Pelayo, as “grease money” to allow the agent to demolished two buildings at his one-stop market project of the mayor at Clark.

“Hindi ko po kilala si Mr. Patrick Pelayo, hindi ko rin po alam ang number niya (I don’t know Patrick Pelayo and his number),” said Gomez.

Pelayo said “the mere fact that she admitted meeting me means she knows me and my son.”

The mayor said Gomez “is the link to determine the extent of Luciano’s involvement in the anomaly.”

He disclosed that at least four people who wanted to get the scrap materials will come out in the open and say they had given “cash advances” to Luciano.

“One of them just lost her husband who died. He became problematic after giving about P4 million to Luciano and nothing happened to the deal,” said Pelayo.

The four persons were set to meet with reporters yesterday afternoon.

Gomez, for her part, said “Mr. Luciano did not receive anything from us. Emiya pu dininan pera (We did not give money to Mr. Luciano.”
