QUEZON CITY – “I never said any of that!”
Thus, said a fuming Candaba ex-mayor Jerry Pelayo, two-term president of the Pampanga Mayors’ League, in reaction to reports that he “abandoned” gubernatorial candidate Jomar Hizon, has “reawakened” and now shifted his support to rival candidate Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda.
Pelayo rushed to the Annabel’s Restaurant here on Friday after learning that the Capampangan in Media, Inc. (CAMI) was having the “Balitaan” forum with Congressman and former National Food Authority (NFA) administrator Emil Ong.
Pelayo clarified that he never met nor worked as a campaign manager of Hizon.
Pelayor said he called up Board Member Rosve Henson and asked him to correct the report which was attributed to him.
Pelayo allegedly made the statements that he abandoned Hizon but has reawakened that is he now supports Pineda in a forum with the CAMI in Clark.
“Nabasa ko yon sa Orbit kaninang umaga. Ang kinowt nila doon ang CAMI na kinausap ng CAMI si Rosve Henson. Tinawagan ko si Rosve kanina. Rosve please naman paki-correct niyo ito dahil wala akong binanggit dito sa CAMI (I read this in Orbit this morning. They quoted CAMI that it talked to Rosve Henson. I called up Rosve earlier and told him to please correct this because I did not say anything like this to CAMI),” Pelayo said.
He said his statement in CAMI was clear: that he will vote for the gubernatorial candidate who will support his advocacies among them the revival of the “Ibon Ebun Festival,” proper waste disposal, agricultural programs for farmers and good fiscal management.
Pelayo said it is not in his character to abandon anybody. “Kung si GMA nga hindi ko iniwan, kayo alam niyo yan (Even GMA I never left her, you know this),” he said.
Pelayo also assailed Henson’s statement that he was “natauhan (awakened)” and he now supports Pineda. “Ano ako bata na hindi ko alam ang ginagawa ko? (What am I a child that don’t know what he’s doing?)”
“Ang pangit para sa akin ay yung sinasabi nilang nag abandon na ako at natauhan na ako kaya nag Dennis Pineda na ako. At my age hindi ko alam ang iboboto ko? Hindi yata si Jerry Pelayo yan (What is foul for me was for them to say that I abandoned and that I now realized this that is why I am now for Dennis Pineda. At my age do I not know whom to vote? That is not Jerry Pelayo),” he said.
