MAGALANG, Pampanga – Twenty seven votes spelled the difference as comebacking mayor Romulo Pecson edges Mayor Malu Lacson in the mayoralty race here after all the votes were tallied.
The final tally of votes came in after Election Returns from 88 clustered precincts were transmitted at 6:29 am this morning (May 17).
The canvassing was delayed due to technical glitches in the SD cards of the vote counting machines (VCMs).
Former mayor Romy Pecson got a total of 27,166 edging Lacson by 27 votes who got 27,139 in the final tally.
It can be recalled that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) local office suspended the counting while waiting for the SD cards, which were reportedly corrupted, to be reconfigured by the agency’s regional office Wednesday, May 15.
