BALANGA CITY – The Commission on Elections provincial office here on Saturday announced that final testing and sealing on Friday of PCOS machines in all polling centers in 11 towns and one city, except Hermosa town, was completed and found successful.
“Successful ang final testing except for minor concerns like on the lock used in the machine that were remedied,” lawyer Gilbert Almario, provincial elections supervisor, said.
He said that although there was power interruption in Bagac, Bataan, testing and sealing was completed with the use of the standby batteries of the PCOS. Almario said that in the case of Hermosa, PCOS machines will be delivered on May 6 and to be tested and sealed on the same day.
Comelec Region 3 director Rafael Olano said Bataan in the whole region did the first testing and sealing. He said other provinces in Central Luzon will test and seal the machines on May 6.
“We conduct the tests earlier so we will know if there are problems. In Bataan only minor concerns were noted but these were all remedied and the overall result was successful,” the director said.
On the actual tests, volunteers filled-up test ballots and when entered in the machine, the PCOS read “Scan complete, congratulations your vote has been registered”.
After the test voting closed, printing of eight copies each for the results for the national, provincial and partylist positions was conducted. Manual voting followed to show if he result tallies with that of the PCOS count.
