ORION, Bataan (PIA) — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued two missing fishermen in the waters off Orion, Bataan, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maritime safety and the protection of lives at sea.
Coast Guard Station (CGS) Bataan Lieutenant Commander Michael John Encina said the rescue operation was launched following a report received on July 6 about the disappearance of the two fishermen, who were last seen operating their motorized banca in the vicinity of Pilar town.

CGS Bataan immediately activated its search and rescue (SAR) team and coordinated with the families of the missing individuals.
On July 7, BRP Boracay (FPB-2401) located the fishermen clinging to their half-submerged vessel approximately 4.7 nautical miles northeast by east of Orion.
“The SAR team promptly rescued the two and brought them safely aboard BRP Boracay. They were then transported to the Port of Capinpin in Orion, where personnel from CGS Bataan, the Orion Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and their families were waiting,” Encina said.
The rescued fishermen received immediate medical attention and were brought to the Orion Rural Health Unit in Barangay Wawa for further evaluation.
Encina emphasized that the successful operation highlights the PCG’s operational readiness and strong inter-agency coordination in fulfilling its mandate to protect lives and uphold maritime safety.
The rescue reflects the administration’s push to modernize maritime operations and strengthen support for the country’s fisherfolk. (MJSC/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
