SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the turnover of 141 units of wheeled excavators amounting to P776 million to the field office of the National Irrigation Administration in a ceremony at the NSD Compound, here on Dec.13.
The acquisition of the said heavy equipment is part of NIA’s objective to fast track irrigation development in the Philippines. The units are part of the agency’s three-year re-fleeting program for 2023-2025 to ensure efficient and effective operation and maintenance of irrigation systems throughout the country.
The NIA emphasized that this project highlights the government’s efforts to make significant impact in the country’s irrigation sector, as well as to reaffirm the administration’s unyielding commitment to improve the agricultural productivity and welfare of Filipino farmers.
“Alam naman po natin kapag ang pinag-uusapan ay ang pagsasaka, ang pinakamahalaga ay ang patubig, susunod na diyan ayuda at processing,” Marcos Jr. said.
“Rest assured we will continue to explore all the possibilities for the continuous distribution of water to ensure that our lands remain fertile and productive. Let us continue to unite and work together,” he added.
“Let us develop, modernize and improve our agriculture sector so that we can achieve a food secure and prosperous future for all Filipinos,” the president concluded.
