PBBM gives P64.8M aid to flood victims in Pampanga, P153M to come

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Pampanga Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda on Monday thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for giving assistance to flood victims in the province that has been placed in a state of calamity since July 31.

The President handed P12.8-million worth of assistance to 1,600 flood victims who gathered at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in the Pampanga capital.

Of that amount, the President handed P10,000 and food packs to 1,000 people for a total of P10 million under the Department of Social Welfare and Development Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation.

President Marcos distributed P2.3 million or P4,600 each to 500 people under the Department of Labor and Employment’s TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers).

A total of 100 people received P5,000 each from the Department of Agriculture’s Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Program.

“Andito po ang pamahalaan ninyo at laging handa na tumulong sa lahat ng nangangailangan po,” the President assured his audience of 1,600 people.

In a meeting with Governor Pineda, Vice Governor Lilia Pineda, Congresswoman Gloria Mapacagal-Arroyo and Anna York Bondoc-Sagum and mayors, President Marcos handed checks worth P15 million to Governor Pineda, P37 million to local governments. These totalled P64.8 million.

In the meeting, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian reported that the agency has released 71,000 food packs in the province.

A total of 10,000 farmers and fishermen in the province stand to get P5,000 each or P50 million from out of the P8-billion balance the Department of Agriculture stands to get as a share of excise tax, DA regional executive director Crispulo Bautista told the President in the meeting.

The DOLE is giving out another P97 million for TUPAD and P6.4 million in livelihood funds, DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said.

In the same meeting, local officials proposed flood mitigation measures in the short, medium and long terms.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa ating Pangulo dahil tinutulungan niya tayo na gumawa ng solusyon sa pagbaha at tumulong sa mga binaha nating mga kababayan,” Governor Pineda said.
