PORAC, Pampanga – Aeta communities at the Katutubo Village in Barangay Planas here welcomed on Friday, Oct. 3, a beaming President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. bringing them livelihood assistance in time with the celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Month.
With Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Nanay Partylist Rep. Florabel Yatco, and former president Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, the president handed over 60 heads of carabaos and 30 garetas (carabao-drawn carts) to the Aeta community, where 127 Aetas were reintegrated through the DSWD’s Pag-abot Program.
The assistance is expected to enable the Aeta community to sustain their traditional farming which serves as their primary economic activity and improve their quality of life.
At the Katutubo Village Elementary School, Marcos Jr. handed out Brigada backpacks to the pupils and turned over two Starlink satellite units to enhance internet connectivity in the school as part of his directive and the efforts of his administration to support education and provide better learning opportunities for indigenous communities
Cash assistance of P10,000 was also extended by the DSWD to each of 1,200 beneficiaries from other Aeta communities in barangays Camias and Planas. Punto News Team/Photos: Pampanga PIO, RTVM, PIA-3
