LIZA SOBERANO, there’s still a chance to abdicatethat group. If you don’t, you will suffer the same fate as Josephine Anne Lapira @ELLA, former deputy secretary-general of Gabriela Youth of UP. (Lapirawas killed in a clash between the New People’s Army and government troops in Nov. 2017 – Ed)
The choice is yours, Liza. And so with you, Catriona. Don’t follow the path Ka Ella Colmenares (Angel Locsin’s sister) took in the underground and NPA Quezon. I am sure Angel Locsin and Neri Colmenares will not tell you this.
His threat, however or whatever Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. calls it, is still as threatening.
It is all wrong, even just to call it “mansplaining” as Gabriela Women’s Party did.
Mansplaining, defined as men explaining issues to women in condescending and belittling manner, is a contradiction in terms. Condescension and belittlement of women is never a trait in real men, military men not excluded.
If anything, they are a manifestation of subconscious fear of women.
On point is Gabriela Partylist Rep. Arlene Brosas: How come these macho-fascists have the audacity to mansplain strong women and lecture them on what to do? And why do they seem so afraid of women using their platform to defend other women?
And Angel Locsin too: A man calling out a woman on how she should advocate women’s rights. How 1920s.
So, man up, Parlade.
Here’s the gauntlet Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla thrown at you:
Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. should be ashamed of himself.
Threatening progressive and outspoken WOMEN who want to encourage a stronger feminist culture? That does NOT make them co-conspirators nor allies of the left wing…
Ok ka lang, Parlade? Your train of thought and reasoning are preposterous and shifty.
If you want to threaten the lives of public personalities, may I suggest that you try knocking out someone on the same weight class?
Let me assure you that if you or any of your men put up any posters in the Province of Cavite, they will NOT last a day!
I will personally lead the effort to tear your propaganda posters down.
…Ultimately, the fight against the appeal of joining the insurgency starts with jobs, justice, and the commitment of government to uphold their obligations to the people.
Slogans, red-tagging and threats will never prosper nor win. Rather, it is good governance as well as the sincerity and will to serve that shall triumph and prevail.
p.s. Have you ever heard of a RED HERRING? It is something that misleads or distracts from a relevant or important issue. It may either be a smokescreen, machination or a tactic that leads people towards a distraction…
Aye, and the women were rather thrilled than chilled by Parlade’s bluster.
The Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray: Please don’t ever allow your voice to be silenced. You never know whose life may be impacted by your words.
You never know who you’ll help feel seen, courageous or comforted. When you speak up for yourself, know that in sharing your stories, you‘re speaking up for others too.
We can only agree with Sen. Risa Hontiveros calling Parlade a “shame to your rank and to the Philippine Military Academy.”
