CABANATUAN CITY – Rains brought by Typhoon Florita raised to 187.45 meters above sea level the water elevation of Pantabangan Dam as of 7:45 a.m. Wednesday.
The water level was pegged at 186.87 masl the previous day Wednesday’s level was way below the dam’s 221m spilling level and 211.66m rule curb or ideal water elevation.
Engr. Rosalinda B. Bote, department manager of the National Irrigation Administration-Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation System (NIA-UPRIIS) assured the public they will not open the dam’s gates during downpours.
Bote said they are still in a stage of filling up the dam for the next dry crop season of 2023.
She even advised farmers to maximize the use of rainwaters.
“Atin pong gamitin ang maximim rainfall dahil talagang hindi po tayo magre-release ng tubig sa Pantabangan Dam. Ito po kasi ‘yung panahon para tayo ay mag-imbak,” she said.
