CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – “I believe we still have to let the process continue as we note a low voter turnout of less than 50 percent of Pampanga’s 1.2 million voters and the reported massive vote buying.”
Thus, said former priest turned politician Eddie “Among Ed” Panlilio, LP official candidate, as he denied conceding to Gov. Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda of the Kambilan party on Wednesday.
Panlilio said he did not concede as reported in newspapers but will accept the results of the elections which showed him losing to Pineda by landslide. He said what is important is “menalakaran tamu (we stood up [to fight]).”
The partial unofficial tally of the Comelec as of 8:49 a.m. yesterday showed Pineda garnering 505,248 while Panlilio managed to get only 125,407 votes. However, the combined total output of the two candidates showed more than a 50 percent turnout of voters already.
Panlio said he will wait for the outcome of the Comelec investigation into the reported “massive vote buying” before congratulating Pineda.
Meanwhile, Panlilio also denied reports that his camp is now contemplating of filing an election protest against Pineda.
“Ala ku pung perang pang protesta (I have no money for a protest),” Panlilio clarified.
In the vice gubernatorial race, Pineda’s son Dennis aka Delta is also leading by a wide margin with 403,452 votes over his rival LP’s Amalia Tiglao-Cayanan with 156,715 votes.
