CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Twenty-one city and municipal chiefs of police and 177 of their drug enforcement unit police personnel were taken by surprise Tuesday when they were told to line up at the Bale Katimawan building at the provincial police headquarters in this city for an unannounced drug test.

Provincial police director Sr. Supt. Joel Rentoy Consulta had required all police personnel in this province to report to him at the headquarters without informing them of the reason.

When the cops arrived, they were told to line up for drug test supervised by the Scene of the Crime Operative team led by Chief Insp. Amilyn Maclid.

“This is to ensure the public that the PNP Pampanga especially the members of the Drug Enforcement Unit are drug free and are not related to any illegal drug activities,” said Consulta who was first to be tested.

Consulta said he would “not tolerate any member of the organization who violates the law and gets involved in illegal drugs and those found positive for illegal drug use and involvement in illegal drug syndicates will be sanctioned accordingly and possibly even be subjected to dismissal from police service.”

He did not say when the results of the tests would be announced.
