Pampanga placed under state of calamity

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A total of 224 barangays in 18 local government units under water; 160,891 families comprising 527,648 individuals directly affected; 1,222 families or 3,787 individuals in evacuation centers in 83 barangays; damage to agriculture placed at P470,104,758 and to livestock, P3,391,750.

The magnitude and severity of the impact of the southwest monsoon intensified by Severe Tropical Storm Crising and succeeding tropical depressions has prompted the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Pampanga to place the entire province under a state of calamity.

The declaration of a state of calamity was mandated by SP Resolution No. 9405 passed on July 24 by the provincial board during a special session presided over by acting Vice Gov. Fritzie David-Dizon.

This, “to enable immediate, coordinated and effective response measures for the affected communities” as well as to facilitate the recovery and rehabilitation efforts of the Province of Pampanga.”

Further, the declaration shall remain in effect “until such time that the situation has normalized and all appropriate measures have been undertaken to address the impacts of the aforementioned calamities.” Punto News Team
