CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Excitement filled the air as the 1st Delta Cup Inter-Town Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Competition officially kicked off on July 12 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center here, uniting young athletes from across Pampanga.
The opening ceremony featured a parade of colors, with players proudly donning their uniforms and carrying banners representing 19 municipalities and three cities in the province made possible through the initiative of the Provincial Government of Pampanga led by Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda, in collaboration with the provincial youth local development office and the provincial SK federation headed by board member JC Cruz.
“Buri ng Vice Gov. Delta na midinan pansin ing gelingan da reng kayanakan king larangan na ning volleyball at para idayu la king marok a bisyu,” said Cruz, emphasizing the vice governor’s commitment to youth empowerment and positive engagement through sports.
The Delta Cup also aims to foster camaraderie among Kapampangan youth and promote active participation in local sports development.
Among those who showed their full support during opening ceremonies were acting vice governor board member Fritzie David-Dizon, along with board members Lucky Labung, Mymy Gonzales, Shiwen Lim, Atty. Claire David Lim, Dr. Kaye Naguit, and Cherry Manalo.
Local officials also in attendance included Bacolor Vice Mayor Ron Dungca, Sta. Rita Mayor Reynan Calo, and Apalit Vice Mayor Peter Nucom, all expressing support for the province’s rising volleyball talents.
