Mexico acting police chief Supt. Josemarie Canlas Basa said that initially, his cops arrested six suspects in a buy-bust operation at about 6 p.m. Monday in Barangay Sto. Rosario in this town.
Basa identified the drug-case suspects as Renand Dizon, 30, of San Joaquin, Sta. Ana town, Rail Abellera, 27, and brother Mark Abellera, 28 both of San Vicente, Tarlac City, Oliver Binaventi, 33, of Banlic in Cabuyao, Laguna,Nasser Nientoc, 35 of Carmen West in Rrosales, Pangasinan, and Saida Acdim, 28, of Meycuauayan, Bulacan.
Policemen found in their possession one medium size heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected Methamphetamine Hydrochloride or shabu, 10 small plastic sachets also of suspected shabu, one .45 pistol with eight bullets, one rifle- propelled grenade, two pistol replicas, drug paraphernalia, improvised burner and water pipe, tin foil with suspected shabu residue, and one weighing scale.
They also recovered from the suspects three pieces of P500 bills which were marked by the police for the buy-bust.
Basa said that at about 2 p.m. the following day, septuagenarin Rolendio Dizon of Barangay San Joaquin in Sta. Ana arrived at the police station here and offered PO2 Julius Ryan Miranda a total of P100,000 for the release of his son Renand.
Basa said that Miranda immediately arrested the old man as he filed bribery charges against him.
The younger suspects are facing charges of illegal drugs trading and the non-bailable case of possession of illegal arms and explosives.
Pampanga police director Senior Supt. Rodolfo Recomono commended Miranda for not yielding to the bribe offer. Miranda is reportedly up for promotion.
