MABALACAT CITY – A gathering of artists to promote Kapampangan arts and culture, a visual art exhibit dubbed “Pamitipun” is on view at SM City Clark from August 14 to 31.
Pamitipun, a Kapampangan word which translates to gathering, is a visual art exhibit organized by the local government of Angeles City spearheaded by committee chair on arts and culture Councilor Raco del Rosario in collaboration with SM City Clark.
According to del Rosario, the city’s main agenda is to help the economy thrive amid the pandemic. Along with the health and lives of the public being their utmost concern, del Rosario said people still need to move forward to the next normal.
“The arts and culture community has taken a heavy blow from the pandemic. I grabbed the opportunity to speak with SM Clark executives and Kapampangan artists through Norman Tiotuico to gather our local artists to promote Kapampangan arts,” said del Rosario.
“Art is self-expression. And in these times, where we do not know how we’re going to fare tomorrow, art can be used to heal our emotional state and serve as an outlet for our mental wellbeing,” del Rosario added.
Del Rosario also shared his plan to pass a resolution to further help the Kapampangan arts and culture as well as the artists in order to preserve and promote Kapampangan heritage.
Mirroring the Kapampangan society, Pamitipun is centered on the evolution of Kapampangan arts from various disciplines through modern and contemporary pieces, hyperrealism, and abstract paintings. Wood and fiber resin sculptures are also on display. Aligned with the Katutubong Wika Month, the Amanung Sisuan is also shown through Kulitan art.
Pamitipun gathered 38 local artists which include Ana Algabre-Hernandez, Mike Abueme, Dodjie Aguinaldo, Ronald Buenacifra, Atty. Reydon Canlas, Ar. Edwin Catli, Lloyd Dacayanan, Aurelio de Guzman, Mano dela Cruz, Gerald dela Cruz, Alvin Dungca, Arnel Garcia, Ailyn Gonzales, Ar. Berlin Guanlao, Joel Pabustan Mallari, Jhune Lobo, Fred Mabilangan, Ramcos Nulud, Yet Orquia, Dr. Vittorio Pantig, Edu Perreras, Hermingildo Pineda, Engr. Andy Ramos, Genesis Reambillo, Ebbol Rosales, Arnold Salunga, Eliver Sicat, Elliot Sicat, Lyndon Susi, Richard Sy, Badet Tiotuico, Nimo Tiotuico, Norman Tiotuico, Erwin Torio, Jing Torno, Ramil Tumampos, Jojoy Zabala and Porac Young Artists.
Hernandez said Pamitipun is meant to share some of the best Kapampangan artists who volunteered to showcase and elevate their creations and masterpieces. Hernandez also noted that such art pieces like her “Maria Katiana,” one of her Bulaklakan Series, is an imagery reminiscent of the Sabuaga Festival that originated in Sto. Tomas.
“As artists, we must create despite and inspite of the pandemic, this is also an opportunity for us to simply exhibit or show and sell our works and help our local artists amid the pandemic,” said Hernandez.
Each art piece also has a QR code where viewers can check information and other details of the corresponding art piece and the artist.
