Palayan City conducts Covid-19 mass testing

PALAYAN CITY – Marcelina Grospe, 60, of Barangay Santolan here was initially hesi
tant about submitting herself to a rapid test for coronavirus disease at the Plaza Concepcion here Monday.

“Nung una po ay nerbiyos ang umatake sa akin,” Grospe said. But her family explained to her the benefits of the test and she acceded to it: “Mabuti na rin po para wala nang kaba at malaman na rin kung sino ba ang positive.

Grospe was one of the hundreds of several villagers in Poblacion area here who joined the mass testing conducted by the city government’s inter-agency task force as a pro-active measure against the spread of Covid-19.

After about 20 minutes, Grospe flashed a thumbs up, saying she tested negative.

Meanwhile, those who turned to be suspects were isolated for further tests.

This city is so far Covid-free.

A registered nurse, Mayor Adrianne Mae Cuevas herself served during the testing.

Cuevas said the city government has procured testing kits through the support fund downloaded by the Department of Budget and Management for Covid-19 response.

The city has some 13,000 families 

The local task force, she said, has set criteria for people to undergo the testing, including the manifestation of symptoms.

Lt. Col. Renato Morales, city police chief, said the entire force here has submitted themselves to test on May 8 and all tested negative.

He said the police has been working with the city government in keeping order, particularly in enforcing protocols under the enhanced community quarantine.
